The Samsung D6400 comes towards the top end of the scale in the range of Samsung LED TV models. There are only two other models with a higher list price and it is also the only current 2011 Samsung LED 3D TV model which is available with a 60 inch LED display (the Samsung 8000 has a 65 inch screen but it is a 2010 model). So with its premium price tag it is fully expected to produce the goods in this Samsung D6400 LED TV review.

The Samsung 6400 is available with 40, 46, 55 and 60 inch full HD 3D TV display sizes which have a refresh rate of 120Hz and are edge lit producing a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. The picture quality produced is generally stunning, if you were to be hyper critical the only negative thing you could say is that some uneven lighting effects can be experienced at times. But as a whole visual performance is what you would expect of a TV in this price bracket. The black levels are good for an edge lit LED TV and the color reproduction is vivid and natural. In all, the Samsung 6400 compares favourable with its direct competition making it one of the best LED TV performers in its class.

Worth noting is that the Samsung 6400 now comes with two pairs of new redesigned Samsung active 3D glasses. They now work using Bluetooth to sync with the TV which is an improvement over previous infra-red 3D glasses. The benefits of this combined with a reduction in weight makes for easier 3D viewing.

Up to recently TV reviews would be primarily focused on visual capabilities and not much else. However this has all changed with the integration of the internet with TVs to a point that for some, this is now of almost equal importance. Clearly this is something that has been recognised by Samsung whose commitment to innovation has resulted in what they have termed Smart TV. Smart TV now integrates all of the applications and internet services using Samsungs ‘Smart Hub’. The range of smart apps has been greatly expanded since last year. The many internet enabled apps are displayed in categories and are easily accessed using the clear menu system. For those of you who are big users of social media, the Samsung 6400 has a nifty new feature called Samsung Social TV which can overlay a sidebar which displays your Facebook, Twitter and Google Talk updates.

When it comes to design and aesthetics, Samsungs still leads the way with its 2011 LED TV line-up. The thickness of the panel and the bezel are some of the smallest ever seen. When viewing this TV all that is virtually visible are the pictures on display with almost zero border from the bezel, making the Samsung 6400 one of the most stunning TVs available today.

In conclusion of this Samsung 6400 LED TV review, it’s hard to find fault. HD and 3D viewing is breathtaking and the internet and technical features are as good as anything else out there. If you’ve got the cash, don’t hesitate in purchasing what is one of the best 3D LED TV models in its class.
